7:00 PM TO 9:00 PM - A HUNDRED MILLION SUNS
@ penticton art gallery, 199 marina way
Guest curator Kagan Goh will be performing a poetry reading of a brand new suite of poems entitled A HUNDRED MILLION SUNS — a book of love poems dedicated to his wife Julia Hogeling on the occasion of her 50th birthday celebration. These love poems were written during a bout of hypercreativity over 3 days by the poet who experienced a recent month-long hypomanic and manic episode — the worst episode Kagan has experienced since his initial diagnosis in 1993 — which threw the normally idyllic happily married couple into a downward spiral. Kagan calls himself “God’s Glorified Secretary taking dictation from the Divine. Something powerful was coming through the pipeline. Julia is my Muse and what came through the music of the spheres was an outpouring of unconditional love for my beloved wife Julia.” A HUNDRED MILLION SUNS is a testament to the strength and resiliency of true unconditional love while the married couple struggles to keep their love afloat in the midst of the maelstrom of Kagan’s madness. The reading celebrates true love as eternal weathering the temporary insanity of Kagan’s fluctuating mood swings. A HUNDRED MILLION SUNS tells a deeply emotional, moving and powerful story of recovery, acceptance and unconditional love between destiny soul mates.
